9:30am – Plenary Session:  “Epidemiologia molecular: nuevas herramientas para el estudio deldengue en Puerto Rico”

11:00am – Concurrent Sessions for Students and Teachers –

Concurrent session A – Tropical Fungi: mischievous players – Organized by Dr. José Pérez Jiménez from Turabo University. Join a panel of experts in the exciting area of mycology (the study of fungi) in an exploration of the ways in which mushrooms, molds and yeasts affects our daily lives. Also featuring presentations from Dr. Matías Cafaro and Dr. Paul Bayman from the Mayagüez and Rio Piedras Campuses of the UPR, respectively.

Concurrent session B – Dengue in Puerto Rico – From the Front Line – Join personnel from the Dengue Branch of the CDC in San Juan as they provide guidance on how to prevent the propagation of Dengue Fever in our communities. They will also answer questions about the role of the CDC in the control of tropical diseases.

Concurrent session C – Más allá del MicroscopioA View Into the Micro World – Join the Association of Microbiology Students of the UPR-Medical Sciences Campus as they take you through some of the most amazing views of our microbial world.

5:00 pm – Presentation of the Robert I. Larus Award for a graduate student poster
